Sandbag Catchphrase - Blog 5
Industry-standard 25 lb sandbags sound like a good catchphrase. Maybe it's not a catchphrase, but saying something is industry standard makes it seem more legitimate.
A 25 lb sandbag is the most common weight of a sandbag, but I don't know if it is a standard issue. There are other weights heavier and lighter that are in the mix. We don't offer those. We only offer the 25 lb ones. The standard or common weight of 25 lb is comfortable for young and old alike.
The new kids who are new to the industry can sling a 25lb sandbag around like it's a yo-yo. The old vets start with an audible “ugh” and then lift the 25lb bag with slumping shoulders. Both can do it efficiently.
A lot of the time the sandbag is used for securing a c-stand and a light stand, but it could also be used on a pipe and base for drape or lighting. A good deal of time we see it being used on truss base plates. And then the good old fashioned jack stand is always needing its complimentary sandbag.
